Brothers,

I just spoke to Jamia Cowan, wife of Worthy brother Knight Ron Cowan.
As you may be aware, Ron has been very sick, he is suffering from siroccos of the liver, as a result, the toxins in his blood stream have caused damage to his brain.  He is in the hospital to treat a urinary tract infection right now.  When he is released from the hospital he will be taken to a nursing home, as his need for 24-hour care is too much for Jamia.  The nursing home location is still to be determined.

Jamia has requested that the Knights, his brothers, visit him in the hospital.  He is at Berkeley Medical Center Room 222.  She mentioned that Ron is a quiet man, a good man, who keeps to himself, but he is suffering now, not only of his illness but also from loneliness.  She said he is alone in the hospital and could use some company.  Please take some time from your day to visit and support Ron.

Roger, would you and the bereavement committee, please contact Jamia?  While Jamia is not a widow, will need our assistance at home, just the same.  She had surgery this week, her daughter has been in town assisting her but will be leaving.  Jamia will not have ANY transportation for 4 weeks.  She will need rides to the hospital, grocery store, church, etc.

The most pressing need, other than visiting Ron, is having the lawn cut.  If anyone can get over to their home to cut the lawn that would be appreciated.    Please let myself or Roger know what you can do to assist.

Worthy Brother Knights, we have pulled together in the recent past to assist ailing brothers, let us continue our work and support of our brothers in need and keep them in our prayers.

Please pray NOW for Ron and Jamia, and ALL other Brothers who are fighting illness.

“Watch, O Lord with those who wake, or watch, or weep this day and night,
and give your angels charge over those who sleep.

Tend your sick ones, O Lord Christ.
Rest your weary Ones.
Bless your dying ones.
Soothe your suffering ones.
Pity your afflicted ones.
Shield your joyous ones.
And for all your love’s sake. Amen”

Mr. Somazze,

I can't thank you enough for the generous supported provided to our recent Summer Games!  It means a great deal to me and to so many others that you and the Knights of Columbus WV State Council continue to be a sponsor and provide hundreds of Special Olympics WV athletes with the
opportunity to play sports, give their very best, and be recognized for their accomplishments no matter how great or small.  I assure you the the State Council's kindness has put smiles on a lot of faces and brought a lot of joy to our athletes' lives.

Our organization is very fortunate to have had the KOC WV State Council with us not only this year, but over the years as well. The support has truly helped provide many individuals with disabilities with meaningful opportunities and experiences... ones they will always remember and
treasure.  My sincere thanks to you and to all the Council members for making such experiences possible for them.

It has been a pleasure working with you in your capacity as State Deputy, and please

know that I'll always be grateful

for your personal support and for

all that the State Council has

provided to our organization

under your leadership.

Wishing you a wonderful summer.
