St Patrick's KOC Soup Kitchen

More than a year before, several knights shared the concern for the people in Hinton and surrounding areas who went to bed hungry, especially the children.

twhile the discussions continued, it took the initative of one in particuler to bring an idea to fruition.

!Brother Knight Rooster Meador would not let his Brother Knights rest until the Program became a reality as the Saint Pactrick Knights of Columbus Roundtable Table of Plenty, a biweekly soup and sandwich kitchen open to everyone at no cost.

Financing the project, thankfully, has not yet proved a burden thanks to the generosity of one parrish family who provided seed money to get the project underway and the continued generous support of the Father John Halpin Knights of Columbus Council 5657, to which all the Knights of the Roundtable belong .

Since it's inception in November 2016, the Table of Plenty has served more than 1,000 meals through April 2017.

Additionally, for both Thanksgiving and Christmas, the Table Of Plenty provided a full turkey dinner for the former to more than 125 people and a full ham dinner for the latter for a like number of people, as well as Holiday Baskets for a dozen families.

M'e put a Donation box "for those who can", because we do have people who join us for dinner who can afford to buy their own. It's gratifying to recieve $10, $20, and even individual donations of $100 once in a great while.

But truly rewarding and heart-warming are the nickles and dimes and even pennies put in by those people whose

!cents are a far greater portion of their wealth than the dollars of others. It comes from the heart.
