Hagerstown Abortion Mill Report for December 2016 Council 12191,
Berkeley Springs, WV
Summary for December 2016:
There were 66 maximum possible abortions. There were two babies saved during the month. There was one drive aways and possible saves noted.
A total of 449 babies lives have been saved since we started sidewalk counseling in October 2006.
Note that in 2006, there were approximately 175 abortions a month. We are saving babies just by being out there. The number of abortions are now about 65 a month (There were 66maximum abortions in November).
The Abortion Mill has changed their days of operation to every other Tuesday and Saturday from 9 am till 1 PM with the idea of being open on one Tuesday and closed the following Saturday then followed by being closed the following Tuesday and open on the following Saturday.
Details of the sidewalk counseling are in the text.
We need prayer warriors and sidewalk counselors from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM on Thursdays and 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Please come and join us.
We also need another “shift” to stay until the woman come out after the abortions are done so we can provide some help. We leave some literature on the cars, but some are parked in the back and some women are dropped off. Please see me at the abortuary or email me if you are interested in doing this. I know we are missing those women who have changed their minds after we have left; and, we are missing the opportunity to provide counseling to women after the abortion.
Teach us, good Lord, to serve you as You deserve; to give and not to count the cost; to fight and not to heed the wounds; to toil and not to seek for rest; to labor and not to ask for reward, save that we do your will. Amen.

Drive Aways: None
Comments: Weather not too cold except for the very strong wind and lack of sun.
To give readers an idea of the wind, Dave was watching a woman going to the bus station when he was monitoring the back of the clinic. The woman wanted to make sure she had bus fare and took a $10 bill out of her purse. The wind took it away and neither she or Dave could find the money. It was the only money she had so, of course, Dave being the generous man he is, gave her $10 so she could catch her bus.
Speaking of giving out money, Jim gave money to two women coming to the HOPE Center for diapers and finding it closed. They were very grateful. He also collected a bunch of goodies for the HOPE Center so another woman would not have to drive back on Saturday.
Jim mailed off a two page letter Father Cibelli at St. Mary’s asking him to do some recruiting of help for us. Anxious to see what happens - we need help!!!!

Talked to one couple and went over literature and life of an un born. The couple listened, however they were none responsive.
We put up the 3x5 foot banner of a sonogram of Jesus Christ. One lane of the street was blocked so slow traffic and lots of thumbs up and honks, etc.
Good comments from the sidewalk.
We did a National Night of Prayerfor Life at St. Vincent’s Church in Berkeley Springs WV from 9 PM Thursday to 1 AM Friday. Lots of prayers, bible readings and litanies with adoration. It was in conjunction with 1,000 other churches across the USA. At one time we were all praying together, hence the four hours due to time zones.

We gave out some money to a woman who came to the Hope Center and needed diapers and formula. She was very grateful.
Main St. Abortion Mill: Saturday, December 17, 2016. Total of 448 Babies Saved!
Due to temperature below freezing and icy roads, we chose to be safe rather than sorry and did not go to the abortion mill this morning. Instead we prayed at home.

Drive Aways: One. A woman parked across the street watched us for a while and then drove off. She later came back and did the same thing. A save for the day anyway!!
Comments: Weather not too bad. A little cool but sunny and not windy.
A woman parked her car across the street and came over and told us she was going to Greencastle to meet family members, but was desperate for gasoline to get there. Women seldom come to men strangers to panhandle, so we took a chance and gave her some money. She was extremely thankful and gave us a hug and “Merry Christmas”.
One older woman parked right in front of the abortion clinic and asked if we were the pro-life protestors. Jim told her we were here to help women with an alternative to abortion. She indicated she had an abortion 40 years ago and has been forgiven. There was a long discussion. Even though she regrets her abortion, she is still programmed into the “Pro Choice” garbage. Jim showed her a fetal model and asked her how she could deny this is a human baby, etc. She seemed to soften a little and went on her way. When she returned she was very friendly.
We could not get conversation up with the women who went in.
We know we must be there no later than 9 AM. The women come in early.
Main St. Abortion Mill: Thursday, December 22, 2016. Total of 448 Babies Saved!

Comments: Not bad weather except it got a little windy in the afternoon.
We gave some money to two women who came to the Hope Center (it was closed) and needed diapers and formula. They were extremely grateful. One was crying with thankfulness.
Sherman arrived with a tray full of very good homemade cupcakes to celebrate Christmas. After we all had some he took the tray into the abortion clinic and offered some to Diane, the manager, She was pretty nice, but did not accept any.
Jim was very happy to see Becky and Paula show up to sidewalk counsel. Becky had news on Tiffany which was not good. She lost her child due to drugs and was kicked out of the hotel which Becky’s group was providing for her. He boyfriend’s parents took the child.
Paula brought a huge box of diapers for Jim to hand out instead of cash. It was very welcomed.
Jim let Becky know he had seen the news article on the internet about her doing sidewalk counselling in Harrisburg PA under a ‘so called’ buffer zone. She said the buffer zone was not being enforced.
We had one woman who came out with an ultrasound in her hand and went to her car across the street. She talked on her cell phone for some time. After she was off the phone Jim went and talked to her offering her help and giving her information and encouragement to not go back in for an abortion. She said she had not made up her mind; but, she did drive off after a few minutes.
After all of the women had gone into the abortion clinic, and we were ready to leave, one of the women who came to support another, came out, went to her car and returned. Both Becky and Paula spent quite a bit of time talking to her as she stood on the steps of the clinic. She said she was supporting her sister who was raped and wanted to get rid of the unwanted child. She said her sister had to do it, claimed the baby was just a clump of tissue, her sister was deeply upset, etc., etc. Like most of the women who are losing when discussing this topic, she claimed harassment by Becky and Paula even though she kept up the talking. Both Becky and Paula did a good job and did not interfere with each other. Paula knew someone with related experience and also brought up the name of a well-known person who was actually the child/victim from a rape.
I was an interesting day.

Save: One. A mother and daughter came across the street. The daughter was crying and the mother was basically dragging her in. The daughter was an older woman with two children and she was living with her mother. She was unemployed. Janet talked to her while Jim talked to her mother. The both took literature. The daughter was willing to talk, however the mother was dragging her into the clinic. Janet gave the woman lots of info, prayed over her, etc. Jim gave her a fetal model and more information. They did enter the clinic and stayed for some time, but eventually came out. The woman said she was still deciding. Paula talked to her, prayed with her and gave the woman her phone number. After the woman went across the street Janet went over to talk to her and give her a rosary. They were Catholic. They then left for good. Pray for her. Let’s call her Janet.
Comments: Not bad weather except it got a little windy in the afternoon.
They started about one hour earlier than normal today.
Paula’s four year old daughter, Josie, entertained us all. Especially Sherman, who danced with her.
REMINDER - We will verify if they will be open on this Saturday as it is New Years Eve.
Teach us, good Lord, to serve you as You deserve; to give and not to count the cost; to fight and not to heed the wounds; to toil and not to seek for rest; to labor and not to ask for reward, save that we do your will. Amen.

Save: A very nice save today. A tall attractive oriental woman came in at 12:35 PM. Barbara gave her literature and talked to her. Jim then talked to her. She said she was going in to support a friend; however, this did not seem likely. She came out about 1 PM and Jim talked to her offering help and suggesting she go with him to the Hope Center. She did and Jim introduced her to Kim. She told Kim her friend was in her late thirties and was worried about the baby not being normal due to her age. Kim told her she had a beautiful baby at age 38. Kim told her all of the dangers of having an abortion etc. The woman then talked about her friend being from PA and no insurance. Kim and Jim told her this could be taken care of. etc. Kim offered her literature on more sources of help. Jim offered her a fetal model to take to her friend. She did not take either. She and Jim left and when they were out of the Hope Center and at the front door she turned and gave Jim a hug and told him she lied as she was really asking for herself. Jim gave her a hug back and reassured her of all the help we have given women in the past and we will help her also. She then took the papers the abortuary had given her out of her pocket and tore them up in front of Jim. He then took her back outside and down the sidewalk telling her we are always out in front and ready to help. She gave Father Jack a hug and headed to her car as she got some good words from others.
Drive Away: A couple came into the back of the abortuary, parked to go in and then left.
Comments: A wet and cold day.
The women began coming in later than normal.
One couple had left and we thought we had a save, but they had gone to get something to drink and came back.
A long time street fellow came by as Jim and Gail were leaving and talked religion for about 30 minutes. Everyone else had left. He knew Gail quite well and Jim some too. He always talked about how he found out he was adopted when he was older and very thankful his birth mom did not abort him. He does not have any particular religion, but has gone to different churches. He found he involuntarily was making the Sign of the Cross and he does not know why. This bothered him. Gail and Jim explained the purpose of it and why Catholics do it. Also he should keep in doing it. After a bit, he questioned why we pray to Mary. More talk and I think the two evangelists did a good job educating him.

Drive Aways: None.
Comments: A nasty day with slight rain, windy and very chilly.
There was an unusual number of women who left before having an abortion. We could not figure this out unless there was a special promotion on free contraceptives, ultrasounds, etc. None of these were considered saves.
As we were finishing up a young woman came across the street and began giving the sidewalk counselors a difficult time for “judging women” who have had an abortion. It turns out the woman had an abortion at the age of 15. She nearly died from the abortion due to the incompetence of the doctor. She is not, nor ever has been married, but has had three children since then and the story gets worse. She is a very, very mixed up unemployed woman and ended up, after revealing her story, very upset and in tears. Janet and Gail took her up to St. Mary’s so she could receive some comfort by sitting in the beautiful church and talking to God. Her name is Christina. Please pray for her.
Tina showed up to open the Hope Center but found herself locked out of the building. She did not have any customers that day so not a loss. We had a god visit.
Main St. Abortion Mill: Thursday, October 8, 2015. Total of 424 Babies Saved!
Time: Started 10:20 AM. / Pro-lifers left after 2:15 PM.

No. of prayer warriors: 9 (M, B, D, S, R, M, J, & R & Z from Bedford PA)
No. of protestors: None (Keep praying.)

No. of pro-life papers taken: 2
Comments: A nice sunny and warm day.
One couple had left, but they had gone to get something to drink and came back.
One Hispanic woman with two very young children came out of the Hope Center a little upset as she needed a certain type of formula and they did not have it, Kim (our sidewalk counselor and a nurse) volunteered to go get some and quickly got donations. She left and was back before we left and the woman was very happy to get it. Kim said it was a little over $25 and told the woman she could do better at some other stores.
A young woman, after seeing our signs, stopped by to see if she could work with us. Her name is Judy, lives in Charles Town and she owns a coffee shop (I hope I have this right). She is passionate about helping abused children. She met everyone, including Kim in the Hope Center. She knows Jack Ames of Defend Life and some other more local good pro-lifers who we are familiar with. She seems very excited to be part of our group and we are hopeful she will join us.
We had a total of 16 people there today which I believe is a record. The two men from Bedford PA (I believe) have been here before but not for some time. Their approach is to minister by talking to the women after they have entered the abortuary. This is a little disturbing to the residents in the apartment below, however they have had a turn-around in the past. They do not interfere with our sidewalk counseling.
We had a young man on a skate board stop and talk to us. He has seen us there for years and knows Jim and Gail. He is always supportive and promises to come back and help us. Lots of other local colorful guys, old timers come by and visit for an hour or more.
Main St. Abortion Mill: Saturday, October 10, 2015. A save today! Total of 425 Babies Saved!
Time: Started 8:50 AM. / Pro-lifers left 12:25 PM.
Time women entered the abortion facility 9:41 to 11:43 AM
They were gone for some time and we all thought this was a save. The car was out of sight and we did not see them. As we were about to finish up, the mother came back, still carrying the pamphlet Jim gave her and told Barbara that her daughter had gone into the back of the abortion clinic to avoid us. The mother was going into the abortuary to support the daughter.

Save No One: Barbara and Cecilia talked to a young girl coming into the abortuary with her boyfriend. She was very receptive to all of the information provided – thanking both the counselors, Her boyfriend would not talk. Jim gave her a 12 week old fetal model and she thanked him for it. They both went inside and the girl came out in about 30 minutes telling us she would not have an abortion. Barbara took her over to the Hope Center. Jim also went over after the boyfriend came out and was told the girl was in the Hope Center. The girl sat down next to Kim and listened to everyone supporting her including a Hope Center customer who is eight months pregnant. The boyfriend came in and had words with the girl. He believed the girl was pregnant by another man and wanted the abortion. The girl said, “I am not killing my baby” and showed everyone her ‘baby’. He said he was leaving and left. She went with him after thanking everyone.
Save No. Two: Gail arrived about 1 PM and parked up by St. Mary’s Church. As she parked her car a couple pulled in behind her, got out of their car and headed to the abortuary. Gail made the assumption they were going for an abortion and started talking to them. She did a great job of counseling for nearly an hour, during which time Father Collins came by and Gail asked him to bless the couple, not telling him any specifics. He did and also said the right words that he was available for any help they needed. Morgan also came by and Gail repeated the request to him. Morgan is always blessing people with holy water when he is in the front of the Hope Center as part of his Legion of Mary ministry. Gail was successful with her counseling and the couple left with a much better understanding of the dangers of abortion, the sanctity of life and the sources of help for their baby.

Comments: A warm but very windy day, blowing signs all over.
I believe this is the first time in our nine year history we have had two ‘saves’ simultaneously. We have a good group of trained sidewalk counselors which enabled us to do this.
No. of protestors: None (Keep praying.)
No. of workers: 4 plus Diane. They arrived between 11AM and 12:30
No. of deathscorts: None
No. of women entering the abortion mill: 9 (2 from back)
No. of maximum possible abortions: 8 (1 left)
No. of pro-life papers taken: 5
Comments: A beautiful day. Lot of sunshine.
We had only 5 possible abortions an 13 pro-lifers. Many years ago it was just the the opposite. We would have 5 pro-lifers and 13 abortions. WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE!
We had one couple leave and they told us they were going to the Hope Center, however they were not truthful and returned.
We had another couple leave with the woman crying and we thought we had a save, however they returned.
Interesting day in that we had a woman come across the street and get a free rosary and a picture of Jesus and a picture of Mary from Morgan. She walked back across the street and evidently was recognized as a person of interest by the police. She was searched, arrested and handcuffed. In the morning paper the front page had a large article about the tremendous increase in Heroin within the Hagerstown area. This may have been a drug related arrest. We all felt sorry for her and prayed for her.
Jim had fun with a woman friend, Terri, from Cumberland, who none of the other pro-lifers knew. She parked her car across the street and Jim came down the sidewalk and made an exaggerated attempt to stop her from coming into the abortuary to get an abortion. It was too exaggerated and Terri was laughing so it did not fool anyone. She was going to the court house and need parking change.
Teach us, good Lord, to serve you as You deserve; to give and not to count the cost; to fight and not to heed the wounds; to toil and not to seek for rest; to labor and not to ask for reward, save that we do your will. Amen.

Save: The first woman into the abortuary was a black woman who gotten out of a vehicle parked in the rear of the abortuary and driven by a while male. She walked around to the front of the building and Jim talked to her for a while. She took literature before going in. After 40 minutes the male drove off and a few minutes later the woman went out the back door looking for him. She had expected to find him so we surmised she had told him she had changed her mind and he got upset and left. She then walked off leaving the abortuary.
Comments: A beautiful day. Lots of sunshine!
Jim had a nice experience with one of the women going into the Hope Pregnancy Center. She came across the street after parking her vehicle carrying a one year old baby which seemed as big as her. Jim went up to open the door for her. She said, “Hello Mr. Pro-Lifer!” Jim jokingly offered to watch her baby while she went inside. After she did get inside she took out an envelope, got some pictures out to show Jim. She told him it was a sonogram of her new baby only about six weeks old. She was so proud of it and had to show the women in the pregnancy center. When she came back out she asked Jim for another cross as she didn’t have hers with her. She meant a rosary. Jim gave her another one of a different color. It went around the baby’s neck.

Comments: A very nice day. No rain and not to warm.
We expected a higher number of abortions today as they were closed last Saturday.
About 11 am there was a great number of people (maybe 500) who walked past the abortuary on the other side of the street. They were in a procession to bring suicide awareness to people. It was not too organized as far as signs go. We had to ask why they were there. We held up our pro-life signs and got pretty good responses. I only remember on negative comment. If we knew ahead of time we could have made signs which said, “Women who have abortion have six times the number of suicides.”

One of the lowest numbers for numbers of abortion for a single day.
Gail talked to one oriental woman who was going in to help a friend. She came out and still had the flyer Gail gave her. They talked some more and with Janet.
I would be good to have a shift working after the abortionist arrives and does his killing and the women start leaving. It would be good hand out healing literature.

Hagerstown Abortion Mill Summary Report for 2014
Council 12191,
Berkeley Springs, WV
During 2014 there were 727 abortions; however there were 39 saves, plus two walk-aways and eight drive-aways. This is a possibility of nearly 50 saves. This number is actually much higher as we are not aware of the number of women who have changed their minds after driving by and seeing the counselors, prayer warriors and signs. We are also not aware of women who may have changed their minds after we leave the abortuary. We try to stay until the abortionist arrives; however, this is sometimes over four hours after we began our work on the sidewalk.
There was an average of 60 abortions per month. The most in one month was 75 abortions in December and the least was 50 abortions in July.
When we first started sidewalk counseling in an organized effort in October of 2006 there were about 175 abortions per month.
In May of 2014 the abortuary closed their doors on Tuesdays, remaining open on Thursdays and Saturdays.
During the year a group of Protestant ministers and their wives and parishioners came to be prayer warriors and also sidewalk preach in front of the abortuary after the women had gone in. This incited a group of atheist/agnostics who came and held up their own signs objecting to the signs of the ministers. This did not last very long. The ministers still come on an infrequent basis. It appeared the demonstrations of the atheist/agnostics actually cut down on the number of women entering the abortuary.
We temporarily lost two of our best counselors (Gail and Angela); however, we have acquired one new counselor (Kim). We are still very short of counselors and some of the existing ones are getting too old to handle all of the standing and bad weather. Please give some thoughts to joining us.
We have previously had more ‘saves’ in one year, however there were many more women going in for an abortion. We have cut this numbers some by being out there; however, a lot of it is also due to the public being more pro-life due to ultrasounds and other education.
The year 2014 was a very good year for the very low number of abortions and the shutting of the abortuary doors on Tuesdays.

She told Kim her friend was in her late thirties and worried about the baby not being normal due to her age. Kim told her she herself had a beautiful baby at age 38. Kim told her all of the dangers of having an abortion, etc.
Also, he should keep on doing it. After a bit he questioned why we pray to Mary. More talk and I think the two evangelists did a good job educating him.
Teach us, good Lord, to serve you as You deserve; to give and not to count the cost; to fight and not to heed the wounds; to toil and not to seek for rest; to labor and not to ask for reward, save that we do your will. Amen.

This was the 15th annual Respect Life Dinner and I would like to express my appreciation for all of those who made it successful. This includes those who put everything together, the speakers, the workers and all of you who attended and gave generously to our cause.
In the past, we have had a number of State and National figures. These included Wanda Franz, head of National Right to Life, Kristan Hawkins, President of Students for Life and candidates to public office, such as our current US Congressman, Alex Mooney. This year we had a great speaker with a new topic. Isabella Yosuico spoke from her heart about raising a child with Down syndrome. It was not only educational, but very inspirational.
Kenny and Sharia Detrow traveled some distance to be with us and provided us with some fine music. Thanks to Vickie Saenz for recruiting them.
You are probably interested is some information on the dinner itself. Gross Income was $1,400. The cost of the dinner was $400 so we netted $1,000. Over $600 of this came from donations. This will be used to support our other efforts including the pro-life booths, the Apple Butter Festival float and the newsletters. All food left over was given to a very grateful Starting Points. They provide free hot meals to indigent people from Morgan County.
I also received a $1,000 check from the Knights of Columbus. This was a much needed donation which will be used to pay the rent on our billboard south of town on Route 522.
Our attendance was disappointing and I hope we can improve on this in the future.
Our honorary group of sidewalk councilors, who have been counseling at the Hagerstown MD abortions facility since 2006, now have a total 422 saves to their credit and the number of abortions has dropped from an average of 170 a month to 70 a month. The abortion facility has even reduced their operation hours by one third.
I am very thankful for all of the help putting this together. Pastor Joey Giles donated the Family Life Center; Carol Ambrose was an excellent Master of Ceremonies and before the dinner decorated our tables; Sharon De Poorter (and daughter Sophie) put in many hours shopping and cooking the side dishes; Bette Burke arranged for people to donate desserts; a number of women from the Baptist Church (who put in some very long hours) did a great job preparing the food, serving the food and drinks; and cleaning up; the men from the Baptist church did a lot of set up and clean up; Joe De Poorter took care of the drinks and other chores; Dave Ambrose collected the tickets; Pat Crosby was the photographer and also recorded the speaker for a later broadcast on WDTF our local Christian radio station, and the list goes on and on.
Thank you all very much. I am very grateful for all of your efforts.

The lowest number of abortions ever! Thanks be to God.
This was the most unusual day ever at the abortuary. The City had the street in front blocked for a water slide. It was about 1.5 blocks long and opened up around 11 AM. There were two slides and the city charged $25 to rent the ‘rafts’. We stayed till a little after 11 AM. It did not look like much water in the slides and the kids were getting hung up.
Secondly, it was very unusual for McLeod to be there before 2 PM as he usually goes to another abortuary near Shady Grove first. He evidently came to this one first or did not go to the other abortuary.
Only three entered. All took literature, but it appeared all had abortions. Brian handed a healing booklet to one couple who came out about 11:05 AM – about 45 minutes after the abortionist arrived. Elaine stayed after the rest of us left. She wanted to pray and also offer healing booklets to the women coming out.
It was a chore carrying the chairs, posters, etc., etc. back and forth to the cars parked at St. Mary’s Church. But lots of help!
We will have a lunch/meeting after next Thursday’s vigil – about 2 PM at the Chinese diner in the shopping lot east on dual highway. Discussion on flyers! I believe it is the same lot as Burger King on the corner. All are invited.
Teach us, good Lord, to serve you as You deserve; to give and not to count the cost; to fight and not to heed the wounds; to toil and not to seek for rest; to labor and not to ask for reward, save that we do your will. Amen.
